I'm going to go with defense being VERY dominant on both sides of the ball here. In a regular season, it takes a few games to get a groove in your offense, this season might see no groove whatsoever. The Redbirds are taking the field for the first time in more than 4 years without NFL starting RB James Robinson in uniform. They also are playing with a QB who didn't expect to be starting until about 60 days ago.

I still am high on our group of tailbacks and both of our lines. I think that should help control the ground game on both sides and that will be the difference.

Weather forecast for Springfield is hi 38 low 28, 9% chance of rain, wind 8 mph out of the SSE. Not bad considering recent trends.

Petrino will not want his home opener spoiled, so we'll have to supply the turd for his punch bowl.

Adverse weather conditions is funny. It’s going to be 37 and partly sunny. They can’t clear the field in three days?

This whole thing is a joke.

Coach Spack not pleased

Don't Blame the Redbirds Staff ! Question is the 4/17 was put in for covid related delays etc. So what happens if a teams on either schedule has major covid issues. Playoffs starts 4/24... So MVFC president kern is saying a imbalance would have been created if Mo.. play at ISU ! Give me a Break ...Nothing been 100% the past year.. Thats BS ... Personally think he has not thought of what happens if either one of those teams has covid issue or another team on their schedule has a issue.. Are they going to play 2 games in less than a week or um let a 7 game team into playoffs ?

I mean when you start a football season in February, what do you expect? It still snows and is cold in the midwest in February. Not like we are having some crazy weather or something. This is pretty typical.

I wonder if this week's weather isn't a cover story for the "lack of playing field readiness," as the real reason foe postponement, especially after reading from an earlier post that they have been practicing off-site.

It wouldn't be the first time that a conference school was caught with its pants down by clumsily not being prepared to host its season opener. Many on here will recall the botched transition from Horton Fieldhouse to Redbird Arena at the start of the 89-90 baxetball season. At the final home game of the 88-89 season, fans received a commemorative photograph celebrating that game against Butler as the final game in historic Horton Fieldhouse...……..except it wasn't.
