I don't know if anyone else posted this already but I just read it on the on-line Vidette. Long and short is stadiums can open with 20% capacity. Social distancing and you still have to wear masks inside the outdoor stadium. All this is still very fluid but look for next to nothing crowds at games ... if they take place. I will let you read the article for the details but 20% at Hancock is quoted as 2,678 fans. Tailgating will be prohibited totally. Same applies to the Illini game so expect if you still want to go, there will be many fewer seats. It does not affect me much here in Virginia but even if I was able to attend I would decline. I would not sit outside 6-8 feet from everyone wearing a mask for three-plus hours. That is everybody's individual decision of course but expect a very intimate experience if you decide to attend a Redbird game in person this fall. I don't know what the situation is in Illinois but here in Virginia, we move to Phase III on July 1st. Restaurants, bars, and such can be a full capacity inside and out. Barbershops, beauty salons, etc can accept walk-ins and not just appointments. Masks still are required to be worn inside (a lot of people are ignoring the Governor's order) but outside everywhere there is no order to wear masks. Stay safe my Illinois friends! Simply my own opinion but masks in an outside stadium is overkill. ISU has trouble drawing fans to the stadium anyway, I don't see this helping that very much!

I believe the masks in the stadium is a State Illinois Dept Public Health guideline and a public university isn't going to ignore that.

What will be interesting is if all the states that are part of the MVFC are allowing fans in stadiums. And if the league then decides no type of home field for anyone if one team can't have fans.

I have a feeling the Dakota schools may not be as stringent as Illinois. That said an ass wipe without a mask about sneezed in my face today. I was glad I had mine on. But a 3 hour football game would be a long time to wear that thing.

Every state has different policies so I would imagine it will be different at every venue in a different state. I wear the mask here when inside someplace but sitting outside for over 3 hours...no thanks. The debate goes on about safer or not with the mask but that is not the issue with me. I just am not breathing my own exhale for 3+ hours. I love going to see sports live and attend quite a few different sporting events here in Virginia because you just can't beat being there in person. But I will watch on TV in comfort if a mask is required in a large outdoor stadium. As I said, my own opinion and everyone has to make that decision for themselves. I hope the boys play but Hancock, like many other facilities, will be a ghost town. My boys both played soccer and we have been watching some of the English Premiership games. No fans, no crowds and even though they are pumping in crowd noise on the broadcast it is kind of eerie. The fans and crowds are a part of the experience and it will be very different. I understand the safety and health thing of course but this whole situation just sucks! Stay safe everyone!

Season ticket holders and family members. That may be it.

While I don't look forward to a face mask in early September, it might not be too bad in November. I know I've watched football with a scarf wrapped around my face a few times.

If only 2600 are there, I think I'll be able to be comfortably distant from others. I can no longer say the same when buying groceries based upon my last experience.

I feel like I read somewhere in the State's documents that you wouldn't need to wear your mask in your seat, but when you're moving around the stadium--on the concourse.

I find this very frustrating. These are Guidelines - not a law, not a regulation, and not an ordinance. Guidelines do NOT mean or equate to a requirement.

If the Athletic Department is making the decision to follow these Guidelines like they are the Ten Commandments (etched in stone) - then, full refunds ought to be a choice too.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I have to agree with Birdswin. If you purchased season tickets but would rather not attend in person and comply with these restrictions then you should be able to apply for a refund and surrender your season tickets. My wife has asthma and a bit of claustrophobia and wearing the mask for her, even for short periods of time, is very difficult. After a few minutes she has to stop and pull the mask away and take several deep breaths otherwise she feels faint. There is no way she could sit in a stadium for three hours with a mask. There are certainly more people out there with conditions that would no longer make attending a Redbird game an enjoyable experience. Me, I would just not do it. Again, no longer an enjoyable experience. I have no idea what the policy of the athletic department is but they should honor requests for refunds if the ticket holder requests it. I am really curious to see what will happen across the board. Will we see fans in the stands for football this year or will people just decline to attend? With the limit of a couple of thousand people, the Vidette article stated, how are they going to distribute tickets? I would imagine that the family of the players would be given some priority. Probably University bigwigs and their donors and/or buddies as well. I wonder how many season tickets have been sold already? Will some season ticket holders get booted because the limit has been reached? I know ISU does not draw attendance well but 2000 is not a lot of people. It is going to be a very bizarre season off the field for sure.

What I don't get is people getting their noses out of joint about the pandemic, how it is being handled at all levels (government, business, etc.), what is being done to address it. This is different, there are no "rules" for how to deal with it, decisions are being made on the fly really, things change every day. People are dying, every day, all over. People are suffering, in hospitals, using ventilators, etc. Zeroing in on ISU Athletic Department - give them a chance to assess where things are at. Masks will probably be required, I have no problem with that. I'll bet they do offer refunds. But even if they don't, I hope people don't get mad, but have some empathy for the jam they're in. They've got a boatload of interests to balance.

Maybe some folks will get mad but there is no reason to, maybe other than the wildly varying rules from state to state. I would only get mad if the university refused refunds under these circumstances. Normal is in the middle of Illinois essentially. Here in SE Virginia, we are just a few minutes drive from the North Carolina border. Rules have been different just by driving a few minutes south! I have a good friend who lives in Wisconsin and with the court ruling, they are basically wide open. He told me when Illinois people drive across the border they feel like they have been paroled from prison! The ISU athletic department is in a very difficult position with little if any control.

If they allow spectators into Hancock this year with the stipulation that they wear a mask, well, that's not much of a cross to bear. I will don the mask and enjoy the game. Anyone that wants a refund should get one.

I am having trouble with breathing with the face mask, would be trouble after 15 minutes, so maybe a more breathable one(sport mask). Also at the Farmers Market, it's making me sweat more. Then there is going to be someone:poop: not really there for the game, taking photos to report on people with the masks off, I can see it happening. Call the CIA on Me...............
Then getting season Tickets would be best for getting inside into the game🏈? And what, they are going to have the governor:poop::poop::poop: police😊 making sure no one hangs out by the car before the game? Puts a big damper on Homecoming..........:poop:, oh Maybe they can have the tents up like Restaurants do? Why is this statewide? Hancock Stadium is not Chicago............. I am ok with temp checks to get inside.............
Was just in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, big giant party, no masks on............hmmmmmmm

Yeah, and the positivity rate in Wisconsin is going up. More people are testing positive. So, you know, pick your poison. The people going to Hancock for Homecoming will be coming from . . . . . Chicago?? Hmmm.

Yes, I think the people with health problems will watch at home. The spike is going to happen, but let's be cautious, enter Hancock at Your own risk.........

With 6 home games this year, I wonder if ISU will have half of the games be for Season Ticket Holders and the other half of the games being open to the public to buy tickets. Hopefully family members of the players can attend as many games as they can/want to.

Unfortunately I think our season ticket base is small enough that we can accommodate our season ticket holders and participant families. Those two groups would be my priority. I do agree it would be nice to have some access for folks who can only come to a single game.
