Re: Davis & Proctor out for season

I would've loved to have seen what Brady could've done with all his receivers healthy, like that game against Northern Arizona. Next year our receivers might be the strength of the team. We'll have Edgar, Grimes and Casper, and now it looks Taula is starting to be a weapon at TE. The sleeper is that...

Re: Davis & Proctor out for season

Baltz can play 3 more games and still RS, I believe? He’s only played in 1, right? And you can play 4 or less? If this is true, I imagine they’d have no trouble burning a RS if he’s won us 2 playoff games... Baltz has appeared in three games. I hoping one of those was the exhibition game, so maybe ...

Re: Davis & Proctor out for season

I used to have high hopes for Jefferson, although I think I only saw him play in the spring games. So is Baltz just that much better, or did Jefferson really fall down based on his own performance? I I do think they should use both as, Jefferson seems to be able to scramble better and has a couple o...

Re: Playoff chances

A very big win yesterday and that changes the whole outlook I think. If the team stays healthy and gets Edgar back, I can see them winning the next two games and then the only question is a first-round bye or not. I think at 9-3 they get the first-round bye with the win yesterday. The Jacks have a ...

Re: South Dakota St.

Preview from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Sounds largely based on interviews with Spack and the SDSU coach. https://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/college/south-dakota-state-university/2019/11/05/sdsu-football-illinois-state-south-dakota-state-jacks-playoffs/4162320002/ Generally respects the Bi...

Re: Belmont @ Illinois State

Not that I think every player that played last night deserves 30 mins a game, but after watching several strong performances last night, who do you guys think sees less minutes when Chastain is back? I just don’t see any one of Hillsman, Fisher, N’diaye, Rey, or Taylor deserving less mins. I’m sure...

Re: Belmont @ Illinois State

Adunk, I agree with you on Brian Jones. I enjoyed his little talk before the game with fans. You could tell he'd been a head coach before; he had that kind of polish too him. Give credit to Dan for hiring him. I'm pretty sure Belcher was another good hire. Yeah, we added a lot of new faces to the li...

Point guards matter.
Yep, big difference with Torres and Horne vs Keyshawn and Heine. Looks like Copeland can now just focus on scoring.

Re: Arena Makeover

My friend's kids loved to shoot baskets after the game. It was kind of fun to watch all those balls flying around. A few years ago I watched Chris Payton set up a kid in front of the basket and then do a dunk over him. Maybe that's the kind of stuff they worried about, but I gave it two thumbs up. W...

Re: Playoff chances

Who did UNI beat last year? If the Birds lose @ SDSU Saturday, who did they beat this year that would make them playoff worthy? In 2018 UNI beat South Dakota St. by 15. SDSU was ranked #2 at the time. UNI also lost to unranked WIU by 20 and unranked YSU by 21. Illinois State beat both WIU and YSU. ...

Re: Uni at Illinois State (11/2/19)

I kinda think the NDSU blowout meant more than our 6-2 record. That probably sapped enthusiasm for the rest of the year. I know it was only one loss but it felt like 4 losses. It was hard to believe we were really ranked 7th after that, and then UNI showed us what a top 10 team looks like. That big ...

Re: Uni at Illinois State (11/2/19)

I was at the game with my family. I felt embarrassed such a highly anticipated game had no more than 3,000 fans at such a highly meaningful game for Spack and ISU Football. I am also disappointed at the boring offense ISU continues to run, lack of discipline with unforseen turnovers and most of all...

Re: Uni at Illinois State (11/2/19)

The one thing I'd like to see more of are bootlegs off of play action with 2 receiver routes. Make UNI play 3 over 2. Some crossing routes. Stick routes. Curl flat combos. Smash. Scissors. Easy peasy. Drag a TE and throw it to him. I think that could open things up a little bit. Everyone's keying J...

Re: HC Game - Indy State

Just curious. How many people actually sat through that whole game outside in the rain? I'll take that Blizzard vs SDSU any day over cold rain. It never let up either. I need to get better outdoor gear. I'm just glad we won. I sat thru entire game. I also sat thru Bison game 2 years ago .. that was...

Re: Uni at Illinois State (11/2/19)

UNI has been completing a lot of long passes this year. We can't let them have a big passing play. I'm hoping for bad weather and some sacks by our D. They probably won't like playing outdoors in the cold.
