Re: Redbird Arena Renovations

The former and current minor sport athletes crying about this project are pathetic. This building is the crown jewel of campus still and used by so many students even beyond sports. The circus, graduation, high school events. Without this facility the school may lose out on the donations that keep ...

Jeff Lindgren drafted by the Marlins in the 24th round https://twitter.com/dusereport/status/1147165150887272450?s=12 He must have found out how to hit that barn! ;) Congrats to Jeff! Mark Buehrle was drafted in the 38th round of the 1998 draft by the White Sox. You could add his WAR of everyone se...

Re: ISU AD: ‘I’m concerned about edibles’ with student-athletes

I don't care if the kids smoke weed. I think its dumb to waste their time testing for it other than they potentially could be tested by the NCAA. Hopefully, the NCAA stops testing. Lots of great pro athletes smoke marijuana. I have no problem with second chances. What I have a problem with is the a...

Re: ISU AD: ‘I’m concerned about edibles’ with student-athletes

Zero tolerance doesn’t mean maximum punishment. Are we going to strip scholarships from athletes who drink underage? What about one that speeds or texts while driving? What about other students on academic scholarships? I have made known when I think punishments are too light. I have also made known...

Re: Milner getting $89M upgrade

ISU should be #2 or 3 on that list, competing with the combined entity of SIU-C/SIU-E. After seeing the deal that WIU gave its departing President, I don't think I could trust their Board of Trustees to make sound judgments. While the library here is important, I wish I was seeing money for a Colleg...

Re: Redbird Arena Renovations

It is the same argument at every school - even high school. Every sport seems to think football and basketball get more resources. Well guess what - What sport do people pay to see? What sports generate advertising revenue? What sports get TV contracts? What sports generate alumni and supporters do...

Re: Redbird Arena Renovations

How much more successful does the track team and others need to be than basketball is to get a "piece of the pie"? It’s not always about “success” but resources. We have had great MVC track results recently but remember WSU, who dominated, left. I am proud of what our track team has done. I also ha...

Re: At Western Michigan 2021

A trip to Lincoln Nebraska would be fun. https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/nebraska/ Nebraska is one of the best college gameday experiences. It looks like they have a good package deal worked out with NIU - 3 games on an every-other year basis. I wouldn't mind scheduling something like that with a scho...

Re: John Beilein leaving Michigan

It'd be great to go play over at UT. Muller has obvious connections to Yak, and has a previous relationship with Shaka after doing a H-H in his first few years at ISU while Shaka was at VCU. I see little chance of that happening. Shaka needs wins and a tourney run. He’s 71-66 overall, 10 games unde...

Re: Redbird Arena Renovations

Has anyone had their call to pick their seats yet? How did that go? It went very smooth. It took a total of 7 minutes from the guy saying hi to processing payment for the seats. The map worked well. My only suggestion would be for the seats to have said: Mandatory Donation: $X Season Ticket Price: ...

Re: 2019 NCAA Baseball Tournament

No question the best part of this run is Benson getting cocky. This is comical from a guy that has sat on his couch and taken quotes from WJBC during basketball season. https://twitter.com/pg_benson/status/1134968678347395072?s=21 This site and Twitter often have the Pantagraph scooped when it come...

Re: ISU Game 3 vs #1 Dallas Baptist 3 pm

Was this the most "Redbird" way to end a tournament/regular season, or what? Luckily, they should still make the NCAAs. This reminded me of being up big at the half vs UNI in the championship in StL and ultimately blowing a 14 point lead. I think part is overall mentality we have to overcome as a d...

Re: ISU Game 3 vs #1 Dallas Baptist 3 pm

I don’t care how we lost. The MVC putting s losers bracket winner in a better scenario than the a winners bracket finalist is a joke. Doug Elgin, Jack Watkins etc. need serious help. They have zero clue how to run a tournament. I think part of the problem is Elgin seems to care about two things: co...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

ISU may have been a "fall back" school for some. I can tell you it wasn't for me. I was accepted to both and there was no question where I was going as a music major (at the time). UIUC was my fall back. Quinn makes a good point. Where you go to school depends on the program you want. ISU is compet...

Re: Redbirds projected IN NCAA Tournament

I have seen us as high as a 2 but that was going back to Vandy (#2 overall). Regardless of 2 seed or 3, this is huge for us. Winning game 1 of the tourney will go a long way toward that bid too.

100%. He's leaving the roster short intentionally well before the annual Walking Boot Invitational hits in October. He just doesn't learn from past mistakes. It would be nice to have more post depth. If Torres is eligible, which I can’t see him being signed if the NCAA didn’t signal a likeliness to...

Re: Ricky Torres

Coaches generally know or not if someone will actually get a waiver or not. Sometimes the waiver process is a Hail Mary and sometimes it’s a way to convince a player you’re fighting for them. So like Nick Norton, they know at Drake he’s very, very likely not getting one. However, in the rare instan...

Yikes....kind of ugly, but I suppose it fits in with the decor of Carbondale. 10 years, $10 million deal. https://siusalukis.com/common/controls/image_handler.aspx?thumb_id=12&image_path=/images/2019/5/15/1_Full_Arena.png It's not a 10-year, $10 million deal though. The $10 million only comes if th...
